UV Gel Systems

Gel is a type of Acrylic product compound that is premixed, it has a liquid-like feel until cured using either heat or light source.
It is the most popular nail system in Europe and now is experiencing a renaissance in the US with many innovative new systems available. Gel offers a dazzling array of gloss and color for nail art. Gel can be used on tips, sculpted on nail forms or used on natural nails.

Gel is applied in layers, each of which must be cured in a UV lamp for anywhere from 90 seconds to six minutes depending on the initiator and viscosity.
One or two phase formulation gel minimizes curing time for a quick nail enhancement. Gel tends to have a thicker viscosity to fill ridges and build the C-curve as well as providing a glossy finish.
The advantage of multi-phase gel is a very thin viscosity for embedding glitters, adding nail art accessories and the application of color fading techniques.

Most gels have low or no odor. By offering gel treatments in the salon a spa type atmosphere can still be maintained.

Curing lights are the most important aspect of your gel work. The proper lamp AND bulb will determine success or failure. At ONS we strongly recommend the use of high quality 9-watt bulbs manufactured by SLI, Phillips or Sylvania UK only! Anything other than these manufacturers will cause product dissatisfaction.

In general Gels are less damaged by day-to-day wear and tear than traditional acrylics due to their light-weight finish. Clients will need fills and repairs less frequently. Gels tend to flex with the nail plate – no painful cracking or shatters to repair. Gel fills are generally higher priced in the market place, so despite having fewer fill visits, a technician can maintain higher profit levels.

Nail enhancements look more natural if they are very clear. Non-yellowing, gel will hold its clarity week to week. One of most exciting qualities of gel is it gives you the ability to sculpt transparent nail tips. Evoke Clear gel can also be embedded with glitter or other nail art mediums. Poor clarity gel can cause shadowing or a hazy opacity.
